Mpinga Kasenda

Mpinga Kasenda ( born August 1937 in Tsilomba, province of East Kasai, † May 1994 ) was a Congolese politician and 1977-1979 Prime Minister of Zaire.

Political career

Kasenda studied law and became a professor.

He was a leading member of the Mouvement Populaire de la Unity Party Révolution (MPR ) and was considered a loyal follower of the long-standing authoritarian ruling President Mobutu Sese Seko. On July 6, 1977, he was appointed to by this Prime Minister. Previously, Mobutu had renounced since 1966 on a prime minister and led the government itself. On December 7, 1977, he resigned, but was confirmed six days later by the President in office. His term ended on March 6, 1979.

From 1993 until his death in a plane crash he was foreign minister.
