Mpumalanga (Eastern Transvaal before 2002 ) is a South African province in the northeast of the Republic. Covering an area of ​​76,495 km ² around 4.0 million inhabitants ( 2011). The capital is Mbombela.

In the north, bordering the Limpopo Mpumalanga province, on the east by the states of Swaziland and Mozambique; in the south are the provinces of KwaZulu -Natal and Free State, Gauteng west of it. Within the province, lies the southern part of the Kruger National Park.

Mpumalanga is a partner region of North Rhine- Westphalia.
