Mr. Blobby

Mr. Blobby is the name of a larger than life plastic doll, which was created by British TV presenter Noel Edmonds and in the entertainment show Noel 's House Party was used. Mr Blobby was a cone-shaped, dusky pink figure with big, yellow, circular spots.

For Christmas 1993, released the producer Paul Shaw and David Rogers under the name of Mr Blobby the title "Mr Blobby " as a single. This increased the end of November 1993 third place in the UK Top 40 and reached number one in its second week. The following week was Mr Blobby of Take That and their single " Babe" displaced, but the former teen idols was then behind him and reached the top position again. Overall, the title was three times at number one, a total of nine weeks in the UK charts and sold more than one million copies. The music channel MTV, however, refused the video ( in which, among other things, the video for "Stay" by Shakespears Sister, "Addicted To Love " by Robert Palmer and "I Can not Dance" was satirized by Genesis) to play in his program.

Two years later, another single for the holiday shopping season was titled "Christmas in Blobbyland " published. But the concept did not go on, and the single flopped ( only four weeks in the charts, maximum number 36 ).

A guest appearance had Mr Blobby, among other things, 2005 Peter Kay's video for " ( Is This The Way To ) Amarillo ".
