Mr. Children

Mr. Children is a Japanese rock band that was formed in 1989 by Kazutoshi Sakurai, Ken'ichi Tahara, Keisuke Nakagawa and Hideya Suzuki.

Mr. Children is one of the most famous bands in Japan. Her debut on the mass market they made in 1992 with the album Everything. The success but appeared only after several of their songs, such as the Single Cross Road were used as theme music for doramas. The breakthrough came in 1994 with their fifth single Innocent World, which in addition to record revenue and the Japan Music Award earned. Their fourth album Atomic Heart is still the best selling of the band. Since then, all the singles the band number 1 hits have been on the Oricon Charts.

History

Mr. Children were founded as a school band under the name Beatnik and consisted of singer Kazutoshi Sakurai, Ken'ichi Tahara guitarist and bassist Keisuke Nakagawa. Hideya Suzuki, a friend from middle school, came as a drummer to do so. In 1987, the band renamed itself The Walls. At that time they were very influenced by the band Echoes. Since Tsugi Jinsei, the leader of the band, was politically active, even the music of The Walls was politically and socially oriented.

With the new change of the band name, the band now called Mr. Children turned away and broke new ground. Her first appearances were Mr. Children Club said in a La Mama. In this way, they were known and therefore decided to professionally making music. However, since they were not successful with their demo tapes, in 1991 they took a three month break, which in turn brought about a change in their style of music with it.

In 1992, her demo tape Chokuzen attention Koichi Inabas the label Toy's Factory. He arranged for them a contract with Bad Music. Then they played as the opening act for the Japanese musician June Sky Walker. At that time she also got to know her future producer and close friend Takeshi Kobayashi.

This collaboration resulted ultimately in 1992 the album Everything. After two more albums, they were traded in different music magazines as a tip. The single Crossroads finally brought then the great success when it was selected for the title song for the dorama Dōsōkai. In the 22nd week after its release, the single broke through the one million mark in sales.

This was followed by the single Innocent World and the album Atomic Heart, whose music style is referred to in Japan as a digital rock. Mr. Children campaigned for charitable purposes. The song Kiseki no Hoshi, which emerged from a collaboration with Kuwata Keise of the Southern All Stars, was used as Campagnetitelmusik for Act Against AIDS concert.

After recording the single and the album Uta Namonaki Shinkai their recourse or Progress tour, where they played 55 concerts, which was a record in Japan began.

In 1997, the album Bolero was released, a small concert for 1,000 fans was given on 31 March in the Ebisu Garden Hall. This was followed by a three-year break band.

In 2000, the band activity was resumed. More singles and albums followed. On 15 November 2006, the band released their 26th single Shirushi, which is the theme song for the dorama Jyūyonsai no haha.

The beginning of 2008 was the drama "Battery" whose title song was the song " Shonen " Mister Children, broadcast on Japanese television. 2010 succeeded Mr. Children as one of the first bands within a day on the top of the chart ORICON Weekly DVD to climb charts, with their DVD " Mr.Children DOME TOUR 2009 - SUPERMARKET FANTASY IN TOKYO DOME "

Music style

The music direction of Mr. Children is a mixture of pop and classic rock, but the band is known for experimenting with different styles of music. Therefore, the Mr. Children also sound continuously developed. To date, the band can be influenced by genres such as Jazz, Blues, Folk, Country and Dance. Also by this constant change Mr. Children has managed to survive long term on actually known for the ephemeral nature of Japanese music market.
