Mr. Review

Mr. Review (2001-2009: " Rude and Visser " ) are a ska band, founded in 1983 from the Netherlands.

Mr. Review play fast, but also partly jazzy ska with strong winds proportion. The lyrics are often seriously to the melancholic inside.

Band History

The birth of Mr. Review beats in 1983 in Amsterdam, as the guitarist Arne Visser and drummer Roel Ording, who had been playing in a band together, meet with Dr. Rude. First, the new band experimented with reggae, but soon decides to to focus on ska.

The mid to late 1980s, playing mainly in pubs in Amsterdam. Finally, they sign a contract with the British label Unicorn Records from London, where they released their first album, Walkin 'Down Brentford Road publish in 1989. The title refers to the " Brentford Road " in Jamaican capital Kingston. In this street is the Studio One producer Coxsone Dodd, where in the 1950s and 1960s, many of the later sizes of ska and reggae music have made recordings.

1994 appears the second studio album Lock, Stock and Barrel. In July 1995, the release of the single The street where I'm living follows.

In November 1997, eventually followed by the single mt Ships did pass in the night, the last release of the band.

In December 1999, the band dissolves. Some members make at Rude Rich and the High Notes on, others devote themselves to their private life.

Frontman Dr. Rude, songwriter and saxophonist Arne Visser Remco Korporaal collected in 2001, new musicians around him and founded the sequel " Rude & Visser ," which since then with the addition "aka Mr. Review " gave live concerts again. In 2002, the mini-album Red Rum was published.

Back to Mr. Review

For the 25th anniversary of 2009, Rude & Visser named back into Mr. Review and started recording the new studio album XXV, which was released on November 13, 2010.

Mr. Review are known throughout Western Europe as an excellent live band. Unsurpassed is their way to play ska, which manages to be both very good and danceable melancholy and defined by them as European ska.
