Mr. Tompkins
Mr. Tompkins is the hero of a popular book series of the atomic physicist and astronomer George Gamow, in which he brought close to a wide audience physical and cosmological phenomena. In the first book portrays a Gamov ( dream ) world in which the value of the speed of light is c only 30 miles per hour. At a cyclist he describes the effects of length contraction and other relativistic effects.
The series began in 1938 with a serial story in the English magazine " Discovery " and was first published in 1940 in book form, and more episodes from 1945
In these books Tompkins " CGH Tompkins " means, so that the desired unification of Physics ( CGH physics ) is indicated.
