The Bergensfjord is a ferry the Norwegian shipping company Fjord Line.
The ship is 134.40 meters long and 24 meters wide and has a capacity of 882 passengers, 207 cars and 150 cars and 45 trucks or alternatively 300 cars on board are many restaurants, bars and a coffee shop is also a cinema, a casino and a video games area.
History
The ship was built in 1993 on the Norwegian shipyard Fosen Mekaniske Verksteder A / S in Rissa as mountains. The hull was supplied by the shipyard Bruce Verkstad A / B. The keel-laying ceremony took place on 29 January 1993 on September 27, 1992, the launching. The completion of the ship on June 1, 1993.
The ship was built for the Fjord Line, which began it between Denmark and Norway. From 2003 to November 2005, the ship was chartered to DFDS and served as the Duchess of Scandinavia, the distance between Cuxhaven and Harwich. After the end of the charter the ship was returned to Fjord Line and used under the new name Atlantic Traveller on the line between Hanstholm in Denmark to Egersund, Haugesund and Bergen.
During a shipyard stay in Fredericia (Denmark) from 6 to 21 January 2008, the ship was extensively modernized and renamed again; it is now called Bergensfjord, but goes still for Fjord Line.
Misfortune
On the morning of 28 June 2007, Atlantic Traveller came upon departure from the Danish Ferry Hanstholm together with the Mole, after it was hit by a strong gust of wind. No one was injured. The ship was so badly damaged that repair had to be temporarily canceled all departures. On 5 July 2007 the ferry service was resumed.
On 4 January 2010 the ship suffered a gearbox failure and was fixed. Again, all trips were canceled. On 19 January 2010, the regular operation was resumed.
