The Dieppe Seaways is a ship of DFDS Seaways, which is used between Calais and Dover.

History

The ship was built under the hull number 360 at HDW shipyard in Kiel - German for Superfast Ferries. The keel-laying ceremony was held on August 25, 2001 on 29 June 1999, the launching. The ship was christened on 7 February 2002. Godmother was Patricia Lederer, wife of the chairman of the German HDW - shipyard. The completion of the ship, which was provided as Superfast X into service on 26 February 2002.

The ship was then first used by Superfast Ferries in the Baltic Sea between Rostock and Södertälje and in May of this year on the newly added route between Rosyth and Zeebrugge.

In August 2006 the ship was sold and delivered beginning of 2007 to the new owner. It was used in the subsequent period when Jean Nicoli SNCM as well as various charterers mainly in the Mediterranean. The end of 2007 the ship was sold to SeaFrance and used from August 2008 as SeaFrance Moliere between Dover and Calais. After SeaFrance had ceased operations in November 2011, the ship was first launched in Dunkerque.

In July 2012, the ship was sold again and renamed first Moliere. In October 2012 it was then chartered to DFDS Seaways and as Dieppe Seaways on the route Calais - Dover used.

Specifications

The ship is powered by four Wärtsilä diesel engines (type: 16ZA40S ) driven with a total output of 46,000 kW. The motors act via reduction gear on two controllable pitch propellers. For the power supply, two wave generators, and four MAN B & W diesel generators (type: 8L28/32H ) are available.

The hull is eisverstärkt and classified the vessel with ice class 1A.
