The Hamburg is a cruise ship that was built by the MTW shipyard in Wismar for the Conti Reederei. The ship belongs to a one-ship of the Conti -Group in Munich. Bereedert it is of V.Ships Leisure in Monaco.

History

The keel-laying ceremony took place on 30 October 1996 on September 5, the launching. The ship was built as Columbus under yard number 451 and was completed in June 1997. Went into service in the same year. Changing the name to C. Columbus (unofficial spelling also C.COLUMBUS ) was necessary because the ship flying the flag of the Bahamas should get going and already have a ship named "Columbus" was registered in the Bahamas.

It was chartered cruises since commissioning in Hapag -Lloyd. By 2006, it laid there already travel a distance corresponding to the nine-time circumnavigation of the Earth.

Hapag -Lloyd Cruises gave the ship in May 2012 to the owner back and replaced it with the also chartered Columbus 2 For a short stay shipyard in Italy, the ship was to the needs of the new charterer, the Bremen company plantours & Partner adjusted. Plan Tours & partners who use the ship as Hamburg have it chartered for six years with an option to buy. The baptism took place on 7 June in Hamburg; Godmother was the citizenship of President Carola Veit. In plantours & Partner the ship replaced the Vistamar.

The ship is powered by four six-cylinder four -stroke marine diesel engines from Wärtsilä Diesel Oy with an output of 2,640 kW. The machines operate at two controllable pitch propellers.

A special feature of the ship cruises on the Great Lakes; the ship can pass through the locks to the Great Lakes and sail the Great Lakes because of its low draft, due to the dimensions.
