The Independence of the Seas is a cruise ship. It is the third Freedom Class, its sister ships are the Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas. It was built in the Aker Yards in Turku, Finland. The ship has a length of 340 m and a width of 56 m. 15 Of the 18 decks are intended for the passengers. The ship can accommodate 3,634 passengers and a crew of 1,360 people.

The ship is part of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.. and is operated under the flag of the Bahamas by Royal Caribbean International.
