The Legend of the Seas ( German: Legend of the Seas ) is a cruise ship of Royal Caribbean International and is part of the Vision class. The ship was designed for worldwide cruising and is one of the fastest cruise ships in the world.

History

Was built the ship in the shipyard Chantiers de l' Atlantique, Saint -Nazaire in France. Was christened the ship by Cindy Pritzker, wife of Jay Pritzker. The maiden voyage of the ship took place on 16 May 1995. In February 2013 Royal Caribbean International, the ship left for about 50 million U.S. dollars to modernize in a shipyard in Singapore and to add many new facilities.

Incident in 2013

On November 25, 2013, Legend of the Seas lost a lifeboat when they anchored off Cabo San Lucas. The ship sailed for four days without the lifeboat. It was re-installed when the ship arrived four days later in Cabo San Lucas.

Driving and maneuvering

The drive of the Legend of the Seas is done with two fixed pitch propellers. These are of three-phase synchronous motors (manufactured by Alstom Marine ) driven by shafting. The high drive power of about 20 MW per engine allows the Legend of the Seas at propeller speeds of up to 145/min a cruising speed over 24 knots.

Cabins and onboard equipment

With a gross tonnage of 69 472, the ship can accommodate 2,074 passengers and 726 crew members spread over eleven decks. The equipment of the Legend of the Seas includes various restaurants, bars and lounges, a vitality spa and fitness center, a screen on the pool deck, a covered pool area for adults, two swimming pools, four hot tubs, mini golf, a climbing wall, a jogging path, a beauty salon, various shops and an extensive entertainment program.

Employment of the ship

The Legend of the Seas was in the last few years traveling in Asia. The ship returns the summer of 2013 back into the Mediterranean. The Winter 2013/2014 the ship in the Caribbean and Panama Canal cruises is used, in addition to trans-Atlantic journeys. In the summer of 2014, the Legend of the Seas is used in Northern Europe.
