The Mariella is a cruise ferry, which was built on the Finnish Wärtsilä Pernon Telakka Turku shipyard.

History

The ship was launched on 28 September launched in 1984 and was on 17 May 1985, the SF Line ( Viking Line today ) placed at the service. As Mariella took up the traffic, she was the first ship of Viking Line, which the route Helsinki - Stockholm and served not one of the shipping company From Sally - Mariehamn. In the Estonia 1994, Mariella was the first ship that arrived at the disaster site. 15 survivors were rescued by the crew of the water, another 11 survivors were brought by helicopter on board, as the Mariella was used as a helicopter base for the bailout.

Another major renovation took place in September 2006, also in Naantali. In this remodeling a restaurant, the perfume and the Tax Free shop were completely refurbished. Furthermore, a completely new restaurant was built next to the Food Garden restaurant.

The sister ship of Mariella is the Princess Anastasia (formerly Olympia, Pride of Bilbao, Bilbao ), which today runs between Russia, Finland, Åland, Sweden and Estonia.
