The Mega Smeralda is a ferry to the Italian shipping company Corsica Ferries. It was built in 1985 under the name Svea at the former Wärtsilä shipyard in Helsinki, Finland. It is 168 meters long, 27.60 meters wide and has a draft of 6.70 meters. With engine power of 26,200 kW, reaches a top speed of 22 knots. When combined car and passenger ferry, it has room for about 2,000 passengers and about 400 cars

History
The ship was launched on 28 September launched in 1984 and was baptized in the name Svea. After completion in May 1985, the ferry on May 7, was delivered to the shipping company Johnson Line, headquartered in Stockholm and used for the Silja Line on the route from Stockholm via Mariehamn to Turku. As part of a structural reorganization of the Silja Line in 1992 and the ship was extensively remodeled and now received the name Silja Carnival, under which it is continuing to move around his normal route. On 30 March 1994, the ship finished his service on the route Stockholm - Turku and on 6 April 1994 it was sold to the Norwegian shipping company Color Line. The ship was renamed Color Festival and used in the following years between Oslo and Hirtshals.
