MSC Cruises

The MSC Crociere S. A. is the cruise company in the Mediterranean Shipping Company ( MSC short ) based in Geneva. The German market is served by the subsidiary MSC Cruises GmbH in Munich as organizers, according to the GTC 2009 MSC Crociere SA a subsidiary of MSC is based in Geneva, organized by the cruise itself and performs. The American branch is based in Fort Lauderdale.

History

Originally, the shipping company was founded as Lauro Lines by Achille Lauro in the late 1960s. The shipping company operated two ships: The Angelina Lauro and Achille Lauro which, both burned out later. 1987 Flotta Lauro was purchased by Mediterranean Shipping Company and renamed StarLauro Cruises. In 1995 the name was changed to Mediterranean Shipping Cruises and later on MSC Crociere.

MSC Cruises was founded in 1970 by captain Gianluigi Aponte Italian. This is also called as the actual owners of the company. Managing Director (CEO) is Pierfrancesco Vago.

The company went here similar to the container ships before and first bought older used on ships. 2003 came with the MSC Lirica ( 59000 GRT) the first new building in motion. 2004 saw the sister ship MSC Opera and likewise the ships European Vision and European Stars ( per 58000 GT) the bankrupt Festival Crociere SpA, which were accepted as MSC Armonia and MSC Sinfonia.

MSC listed in the cruise market with high growth and ordered new ships. 2006 MSC Musica ( 90000 GRT) was placed in service, followed by sister ships, MSC Orchestra (2007) and MSC Poesia (2008). The largest ever built for a European ship owner cruise ship, the MSC Fantasia ( 137936 GT) was put into service in December 2008, the almost identical MSC Splendida followed in July 2009. In May 2012, the MSC Divina followed. All three ships of the Fantasia - class feature for the first time about 28 per Aurea Spa Suites. Since 1 March 2010, the Musica class is associated ship MSC Magnifica traveling. Are being built all the ships of the French shipyard Chantiers de l' Atlantique in St. Nazaire.
