MSC Software

MSC Software (own spelling MSC.Software, short for MacNeal - Schwendler Corporation) developed CAE software for simulation and virtual product development. Established in 1963 company is one of the 10 oldest described (in addition to, inter alia, IBM, Microsoft and Apple), who founded the market of software development companies. Claims to 900 of the 1000 major producing companies of various industries around the world (including energy, aerospace and automotive industries ) MSC.Software 's products and services are starting.

History

The company, headquartered in Santa Ana, California, was founded in 1963 by Dr. Richard MacNeal and Robert Schwendler. At this time, the company developed its first software for structural analysis: SADSAM ( for Structural Analysis by Digital Simulation of Analog Methods ). At the same time MSC.Software worked closely with the aviation industry to improve technologies for the finite element method ( FEM). 1965 MSC.Software developed with NASA, a general purpose FEM program. This program became known as NASTRAN (short for NASA Structural Analysis System) and is considered the forerunner of all subsequent FEM programs. Throughout its history, MSC.Software has not yet developed or purchased, including Patran, Adams, Marc, Dytran, SimDesigner, SimManager Easy5, Sinda and Fluid Connection many other CAE applications.

Products

The product portfolio of MSC.Software includes:

  • Linear and non- linear finite element analysis
  • Multi-body simulation
  • CAD - integrated simulation tools
  • Data and process management, and many other applications.

The key to an effective and efficient product development does not lie in the use of innovative software, value is created rather by a sustained improvement of the software communication. The trend is away from individual simulation tools towards an overall solution that can be integrated into the enterprise-wide business processes. MSC.Software has therefore integrates the separate CAE tools into unified, multidisciplinary solvers and user environments. The programs MD Nastran, MD Adams and SimXpert engineers are able to improve the reliability and realism of their virtual prototypes and to create more accurate forecasts for a variety of physical and multidisciplinary interactions.

The main solutions from MSC.Software are:

  • MSC Nastran: solver for structural analysis and finite element calculations in the field of statics, dynamics and acoustics
  • MSC Adams multibody simulation program for kinematic and kinetic analyzes, which simulate the movement behavior of three -dimensional mechanical systems realistically represent and animate can
  • Marc: FEM - program that comes with non-linear structural analysis of large deformations of hyperelastic materials and plastics for use
  • Dytran: FEM solution for analyzing complex nonlinear behavior, which includes a permanent deformation of material properties or fluid-structure coupling
  • Patran: Pre and post-processing program for modeling and geometry creation and editing
  • MD Nastran: Solver that combines the technologies MSC Nastran, Marc, Dytran and LS Dyna to a fully integrated, cross-functional solution; makes point solutions superfluous as linear, implicit and explicit non-linear calculations can be performed on a platform
  • MD Adams solver to perform kinematic and kinetic analysis of multibody systems in an integrated simulation environment; includes tight integration with MD Nastran for NVH and durability analysis and a module for the treatment of mechatronic subsystems
  • SimXpert: user environment for CAE experts to perform all phases of the simulation process in an integrated, multidisciplinary working environment and automate
  • Provides CAD - integrated simulation solution that designers efficient access to a wide range of integrated simulation tools: SimDesigner
  • SimManager: Web-based, hardware- independent system for the management and automation of simulation data and processes

Business

MSC.Software solutions are mainly used in the aerospace, automotive and manufacturing industries. However, the software is also increasingly being used in machine tool manufacturing, transportation, (bio ) medical, telecommunications, electronics and consumer goods industries as well as in universities and other training institutions.
