The Schauinsland-Reisen - Arena is a football stadium in Duisburg. It is the home of MSV Duisburg.

Location

The stadium is located south of the Duisburg city center in the district of Neudorf and is embedded in the Sportpark Duisburg, where the race course, the swimming stadium and the ice rink are located.

History

The current stadium was built on the site of the former stadium Wedau 2003 and 2004. The construction started in July 2003 with the demolition of the north curve and the Ostgeraden. In the context of the game against MSV Duisburg red -Weiss Oberhausen (1:1) held its groundbreaking ceremony on 17 October 2003.

Built on the site of the north curve and Ostgeraden North -Tribune ( " König Pilsener fan curve " ) and East rostrum ( " activate HotelManager Tribune " ) were on 18 April 2004 in the game of MSV Duisburg against Wacker Burghausen ( 1-0) opened. On September 12, followed in 2004 with the game MSV Duisburg against Rot-Weiss Essen (1-0 ) the opening of the South -Tribune ( "RWE -Tribune ").

The new grandstand ( " Sparkassen- Tribune " ) was first opened on 8 November 2004 during the game against Alemannia Aachen MSV Duisburg (1-0 ) for viewers. At the beginning of the season 2005/ 06 the capacity was expanded again slightly by adding seats in the upper tier.

At the start of the Bundesliga season 2007/ 08, RWE AG had a plan to buy the naming rights to the stadium, but then moved to protest the Duisburg fan base because of the name similarity with the local rivals Rot-Weiss Essen the plans back.

In July 2010, the MSV Duisburg sold the name of the arena. The Duisburg travel company Schauinsland Travel bought the naming rights for two years and allowed the MSV as additional revenue, after it had already namesake of the back straight.

Facts and Figures

The stadium has two 41 m² large display panels each mounted on the roof above the north and south stand curve.

The arena is 205 meters long, 165 meters wide and 35 meters high ( pylons ); the roof height is 26 meters.

It has a total capacity of 31,500 spectators.

In addition to the 29,121 grandstand seats ( 22 082 seats and 7,039 standing) are 1,537 business seats, 252 incentive loge seats, 46 seats for wheelchair users, 41 lodges with a total of 420 seats and 124 seats in the press box are available. When Erstligapartie of MSV Duisburg against Borussia Dortmund on 28 August 2005, the stadium was sold out for the first time with 31,500 spectators.

Grandstands

Nordkurve Duisburg

The north curve has an upper and a lower part. The upper part is with chairs, with the lower part of the general admission area for the fans of MSV Duisburg. For international matches the standing areas can be also with chairs, so that the requirements of FIFA are met. Already in Wedaustadion the north curve was the center of MSV fans. The active fans of the MSV Duisburg position themselves just behind the gate at the separation fence between the blocks H and I. The general admission area of the North stand is sold out in most games. About 5000 spectators can be accomodated there. The grandstand is located very close to the field, and since the entire stadium is covered, the acoustics are very good. The Tribune has officially named König Pilsener fan curve, but is called by the fans " North Stand ", there was a curve in the same place in Wedaustadion. The standing area has four major outputs and the staircases are highlighted in blue. In the tribune food stalls and drink stalls are integrated in each upper and lower rank. Also a small " Zebra Shop" is integrated into the grandstand. In the forward area of the grandstand is a large " MSV " lettering is in the form of a hedge.

South Stand

The south stand has an upper and a lower part, the upper part and the lower part is completely partially with chairs. Opposite stand

The Schauinsland-Reisen - Arena is designed as a football stadium and is used primarily to host the home games of MSV Duisburg. Other major sporting events and concerts are possible - but there is, in contrast to Wedaustadion no more career.

The opening ceremony of the World Games was held at the MSV - Arena on July 14, 2005.

The Italian national team headquartered here during the 2006 World Cup quarter in Duisburg- Huckingen.
