Mszana

Mszana is a village located in powiat Wodzisławski in Silesia, Poland. The village is also the seat of the municipality of the same country.

Geography

Mszana is located on the southeastern part of the Rybnik Plateau, 48 km south-west of Katowice and 5 km southeast of the county town Wodzisław Slaski. In place of the small river empties into the Mszanka Szotkówka.

History

The first written record comes from the year 1305. 1447 is mentioned in the village for the first time a church. In 1855 the village had 757 inhabitants.

From 1975 - 1998 the village belonged to Katowice Voivodeship.

Coat of arms

The current coat of arms has been operational since 2000. It is composed of three parts. Every part of this is a sołectwo ( mayor's office ) for Mszana is the bell for Połomia is the heart and for Gogołowa the tree stands.

Community

Geography

The municipality has a surface area of 31.32 km ². 74 % of its territory is used for agriculture, 7% is covered by forest.

Sołectwo

The municipality consists of the sołectwo ( Soltysships ) Gogołowa, Mszana and Połomia.

Economy and Transport

Due to the community run the Droga wojewódzka 930 ( DW930 ) and the DW933. Since 2008, the Autostrada A1 will be built by the municipality (completed April 2012).
