The Mtera Reservoir is a lake in the center of Tanzania, on the border between the two regions, Iringa and Dodoma at an altitude of 700 meters. It is the largest hydroelectric power plant in the country, and was built as a support of the Ruaha downstream Kidatu Reservoir. The power plant has a capacity of 80 MW.

Ecology

The lake is considered one of the most suitable places in Tanzania to observe birds, because in him the one million dead trees standing and he has a lot of shallow water zones. In addition, the waters are rich in fish. The early 1990s, approximately 5000 tons of fish were caught in the lake every year.
