Mu Velorum

My Velorum ( μ Velorum, short μ Vel ) is a 116 light-years distant binary star system in the constellation Vela.

The first component, My Velorum A, is a yellow giant star of spectral type G5 III with an apparent magnitude of 2.69 mag. Could to My Velorum A, unusually for a yellow giant, solar flares are detected.

The Yellow Dwarf My Velorum B, the companion of the main star is a sun-like star with an apparent magnitude of about 6.6 mag. The two stars are 0.7 arcseconds apart and circle each other in its orbit every 116.24 years.
