Much Wenlock and Severn Junction Railway

The Much Wenlock and Severn Junction Railway was a British railway company in Shropshire in England.

History

The Company was incorporated on July 21, 1859 to prepare a railway line between Much Wenlock and the route of the Severn Valley Railway in Buildwas. It was financed by a share issue in the amount of 24,000 pounds sterling and bonds in the amount of 8090 pounds sterling.

It was completed on 22 October 1861, and the opening on 1 February 1862. Much Wenlock in later closed the Wenlock Railway according to Craven Arms. The operation was carried out by the West Midland Railway. The Great Western Railway took over the Much Wenlock and Severn Junction Railway on 7 August 1896.
