Muchow

The municipality is part of the Office Muchow Grabow in the district of Ludwigsburg pleasure Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ).

Geography and Transport

Surrounded by fields municipality is located ten kilometers south-east of Neustadt- Glewe and northeast of Grabow in the sparsely populated areas. The Müritz- Elde waterway runs along the western boundary of the municipal area. Through the small river Tarnitz flows south towards Löcknitz. The Federal Highway 24 can be reached via the junction Neustadt- Glewe in about ten kilometers.

History

The first written mention dates back to the Muchow 1377. A settlement of the district but it has already given before the beginning of recorded time. As is common in the region, at times the iron extraction from bog iron played a role. From 1407 to the 17th century, there was in the village 33 landlords and 32 cottages. In the Thirty Years' War, 20 farms were devastated. A total of three major fires in the years 1531, 1903 and 1938 are known. Muchow was coined until 1989 mainly by agriculture.

The neo-Gothic brick church with a cruciform ground plan was built from 1890 to 1892 by God Help Louis Moeckel. The altarpiece of the Düsseldorf painter Ernst Christian Pfannschmidt.

The coat of arms was approved on 13 February 2001 by the Home Office and registered under No. 236 of the coat of arms role of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The coat of arms was designed by the Schwerin heraldist Heinz Kippnick.

Flag
