Muckle Roe

The island of Muckle Roe belongs to the archipelago of the Shetland Islands and lies in the Atlantic Ocean north west of Scotland.

It is connected to Mainland, the main island of the Shetland Islands by a bridge over the few meters wide Roe Sound. The hilly island is nearly round and has 5 km at a stretch of about 5 x size of 18 km ². The highest elevation is only 169 meters.

Most of the currently over 100 inhabitants live scattered across the island in the individual farms of agriculture and fisheries. Since the island has no archaeological sites, tourism plays virtually no role.
