Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue
MALT - Mucosa Associated Lymphoid Tissue for, Eng. for " mucosa - associated lymphoid tissue" - is a system nodular collections of lymphocytes. These accumulations are under the mucous membrane of various organs, which are regarded as the main portals of entry for pathogens:
- In the respiratory tract as BALT of the bronchial mucosa, as well as the tonsils,
- As GALT under the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract ( digestive tract ), see GALT
- In the urogenital tract
- And others.
