History

The third album by James Taylor meant the final breakthrough for the songwriter. The single release of You've Got a Friend was his only number - one hit and earned him a Grammy Award in 1972 for best male vocal performance. The song by Carole King also received the Grammy Award for Song of the Year. The album of Taylor was published in April 1971 and Carole King's Tapestry album was released in March 1971. Both singer / songwriter albums were the most successful albums of this genre in 1971. Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon reached the second place in the Popalbumcharts.
