Mudashiru Lawal

Babatunde Lawal Mudashiru ( born June 8, 1954 in Abeokuta, † July 6, 1991 in Ibadan ) was a Nigerian football midfielder. He was called 86 times in the national team and scored 12 goals, making it still the most appointed Nigerian football player. Lawal led Nigeria to its first Africa Cup win at the African Cup of Nations 1980., The team took in the same year also participated in the 1980 Summer Olympics.

He worked as a mechanic when his football talent was discovered before he gave in 1975 his debut in the national team jersey. In the same year he came to the Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan, where he was to play for many years and he is the first Nigerian team won the African Cup Winners' Cup competition. In 1985, the team was forced by a military governor to dissolve, but after four seasons, he came to the Shooting Stars back as playing assistant coach.

Lawal died at his home on July 6, 1991. Ashero The stadium in his hometown of Abeokuta was named after him after his death.
