Mudhoney

Mudhoney is a grunge band from Seattle. The name refers to the eponymous film of 1965 by Russ Meyer, the band members had not seen at the time of the band's formation.

Band History

Mudhoney was founded on Halloween in 1987 by friends Mark Arm and Steve Turner, who had, among other things already made in the bands Mr. Epp & The Calculations, Green River and the project The Thrown Ups music together. Mark Arm had left by Steve Turner Green River, as unbridgeable musical and career -related differences to the other band members had opened. This then founded Mother Love Bone. The band was completed by bassist Matt Lukin ( ex- Melvins ) and Dan Peters, who played as a sought-after drummer in numerous bands, including Bundle of Hiss and Feast.

Published in 1989, the Mudhoney EP Superfuzz Bigmuff album that defined the sound that was later called grunge at Sub Pop. Before the success of Nirvana Mudhoney was the flagship of Sub Pop. Influence

The music of Mudhoney is strongly influenced by the so-called proto punk bands MC5 and The Stooges.
