Mueang Chiang Rai District

Amphoe Mueang Chiang Rai ( Thai: อำเภอ เมือง เชียงราย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Chiang Rai. The Chiang Rai province is located in the northern region of Thailand. The capital of the province of Chiang Rai also called Chiang Rai.

Geography

Neighboring districts ( from north-west clockwise) Mae Fa Luang, Mae Chan, Chiang Rung Wiang, Wiang Chai, Thoeng, Pa Daet, Phan, Mae Lao and Mae Suai in the province of Chiang Rai, Amphoe Mae Ai and the province of Chiang Mai.

The main river of the district is Maenam Kok (Kok River ).

Education

In Amphoe Mueang Chiang Rai Mae Fah Luang is the University and Rajabhat University Chiang Rai.

Traffic

In this district is the Chiang Rai airport.

Management

The district ( Amphoe ) Mueang Chiang Rai is in 16 communes ( tambon) divided, which are further subdivided into 256 villages ( Muban ).

There are four towns in the County:

  • Chiang Rai ( Thai: เทศบาล นคร เชียงราย ) is the name of a major city ( thesaban Nakhon ), it consists of the whole tambon Wiang and parts of Rop Wiang, San Sai and Rim Kok.
  • Ban You ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้าน ดู่ ) is a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it consists of the whole tambon Ban Du,
  • Nang Lae ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล นาง แล ) is a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it consists of the whole tambon Nang Lae,
  • Pa O Don Chai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สันทราย ) is a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it consists of the whole Tambon Pa O Don Chai.

In addition, there are twelve " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
