Mueang Chumphon District

Amphoe Mueang Chumphon ( Thai อำเภอ เมือง ชุมพร ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in Chumphon province in southern Thailand. Chumphon is the capital of the district Mueang Chumphon, it is also the capital of the province of Chumphon.

Geography

Neighboring districts (from the south clockwise): Amphoe Sawi Chumphon Province, Amphoe Kra Buri Province Ranong and Amphoe Tha Sae and Pathio turn in Chumphon province.

Management

Amphoe Mueang Chumphon is in 17 communes ( tambon) divided, further in 165 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

The city ( Mueang thesaban ) Chumphon ( เทศบาล เมือง ชุมพร ) covers the whole tambon Tha Taphao and parts of the tambon Bang Mak, Na Thung, Tak Daet, Khun Krathing and Wang Phai.

There are also three small towns ( Tambon thesaban ):

  • Paknam Chumphon ( เทศบาล ตำบล ปากน้ำ ชุมพล ) consists of parts of the tambon Paknam,
  • Tha Yang ( เทศบาล ตำบล ท่ายาง ) consists of the whole tambon Tha Yang,
  • Wang Phai ( เทศบาล ตำบล วังไผ่ ) consists of parts of the Tambon Wang Phai.

There are also 16 administrative organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).
