Mueang Kanchanaburi District

Amphoe Mueang Kanchanaburi ( Thai อำเภอ เมือง กาญจนบุรี ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the Kanchanaburi province. The Kanchanaburi Province is located in the extreme west of the central region of Thailand. The district capital and the provincial capital is also called Kanchanaburi.

Geography

Neighboring districts (from west clockwise): Tanintharyi Division in Myanmar and the Amphoe Sai Yok, Si Sawat, Phloi Bo, Tha Muang and Dan Makham Tia Kanchanaburi Province and Amphoe Suan Phung Ratchaburi Province.

History

The area was already in the Stone Age, a retreat for members of the Hoabinhian culture and home to Neolithic farmers, have as excavations at Ban Kao shown (see Khao Talu Cave and Ban Kao National Museum ).

The city ( Mueang ) Kanchanaburi in 1833 under King Phra Nang Klao (Rama III. ) Transferred (at that time called Pak Phraek ) to the current position, after it had been the end of the 18th century was largely destroyed by the Burmese. Previously, she was about 8 km northwest of the present location.

In 1913, Mueang Kanchanaburi to the district ( Amphoe Mueang ) was raised Kanchanaburi province. The administration was initially located in the Lak Mueang Road, Tambon Ban Nuea. On October 1, 1954, she was on the present site, the Sang Chuto Road in Tambon Pak Phraek relocated.

  • The county has four small towns ( Tambon thesaban ): Pak Phraek ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ลาด หญ้า ), consisting of other parts of the tambon Pak Phraek,
  • Kaeng Sian ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล แก่ง เสี้ยน ), consisting of parts of the tambon same name,
  • Nong Bua ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนองบัว ), consisting of parts of the tambon same name,
  • Lat Ya ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ลาด หญ้า ), consisting of parts of the tambon same name.
