Mueang Mae Hong Son District

Amphoe Mueang Mae Hong Son ( Thai: อำเภอ เมือง แม่ฮ่องสอน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Mae Hong Son The Mae Hong Son province is located in the northern region of Thailand. The capital of the county is called Mae Hong Son

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): the Amphoe Pang Mapha and Pai of Mae Hong Son province, the Amphoe Galyani Vadhana Mae Chaem in Chiang Mai, Amphoe Khun Yuam again in the province of Mae Hong Son and the Kayah State of Myanmar.

History

Originally belonged to Mae Hong Son to the kingdom of Lan Na. The area was later between Burma and Thailand controversial, due to its location but never place a greater conflict.

On 10 May 1910, the Ministry of the Interior Mueang Mae Hong Son evaluated on a fourth-class city of Monthon Phayap. It consisted at that time of the four districts Mueang Mae Hong Son Mueang Yuam ( Amphoe Mae Sariang today ), Pai and Khun Yuam.

1917, the District of Mueang Muai To ( ม่อย ต่อ ) has been renamed. In 1938, he was renamed Mueang Mae Hong Son. In 1987, the northeastern part of the county was split to create the new district Pang Mapha it.

Management

Amphoe Mueang Mae Hong Son is divided into seven communities ( tambon), which further into 75 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

The city ( Mueang thesaban ) Mae Hong Son covers the whole tambon Chong Kham.

In addition, there are six " Tambon Administrative Organizations" ( TAO - administrative organizations).
