Mueang Nan District

Amphoe Mueang Nan ( Thai: อำเภอ เมือง น่าน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Nan. The Nan province is located in the northern region of Thailand. The provincial capital is also called Nan Nan.

Geography

Neighboring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Tha Wang Pha the Santi Suk, Phu Phiang, Wiang Sa and Ban Luang in Nan Province and Amphoe Pong the province of Phayao.

History

The history of the district dates back to Khwaeng Nakhon Nan, which was established in 1899 by the Home Office. In 1917 it was renamed in Mueang Nan.

Management

The district of Mueang Nan is divided into eleven subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 109 villages ( Muban ).

Nan itself ( เทศบาล เมือง น่าน ) has a city - state ( thesaban Mueang ) and consists of the whole tambon Nai Wiang.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • You Tai ( เทศบาล ตำบล ดู่ ใต้ ), consisting of the whole tambon Tai you,
  • Kong Khwai ( เทศบาล ตำบล กอง ควาย ), consisting of the whole tambon Kong Khwai.

There are also eight " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations).

The missing geocodes refer to the tambon which now belong to the Amphoe Phu Phiang.
