Mueang Phrae District

Amphoe Mueang Phrae ( Thai: อำเภอ เมือง แพร่ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Phrae in Northern Thailand. Phrae is also the capital of the province of Phrae.

Geography

Adjacent counties ( from the southwest clockwise): Amphoe Sung the Men, Long, Nong Muang Khai and Rong Kwang Phrae province, Amphoe Na Muen in Nan Province and Amphoe Tha Pla, Uttaradit province.

Economy

Rice cultivation is an important source of income. Also significant is the manufacture of rattan furniture and textiles, especially the " Mohom ", the work shirt from grobgewebtem blue jean is made.

Management

Amphoe Mueang Phrae consists of 20 communes ( tambon), which further into 157 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Phrae itself ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง แพร่ ) has a city - state ( thesaban Mueang ), it consists of the whole tambon Nai Wiang.

There are also five small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Cho Hae ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ช่อ แฮ ) consists of the whole tambon Cho Hae and parts of Padaeng,
  • Thung Hong ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ทุ่ง โฮ้ ง ) consists of the whole Tambon Thung Hong,
  • Mae Lai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล แม่ ห ล่า ย ) consists of the whole Tambon Mae Lai,
  • Pa Maet ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ป่า แม ต ) consists of the whole Tambon Pa Maet,
  • Mae Kham Mi ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล แม่ คำ มี ) consists of the whole Tambon Mae Kham Mi

There are also 13 " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
