Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan District

Amphoe Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan ( in Thai: อำเภอ เมือง ประจวบคีรีขันธ์ ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan in the southwest of the central region of Thailand. The capital of the district Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan Prachuap Khiri Khan is called.

Location

Amphoe Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan is located on the Gulf of Thailand about 280 km southwest of the capital, Bangkok.

Neighboring districts are Amphoe Kui Buri Amphoe Thap Sakae in the north and the south. In the West, Tanintharyi Division of Myanmar lies in the east of the Gulf of Thailand.

History

In the early Rattanakosin period founded by King Phra Phutthaloetla ( Rama II ) the city ( Mueang ) Bang Nang Rom at the mouth of Nang -Rom channel. King Mongkut (Rama IV ) changed the name of Mueang Bang Nang Rom in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan. The name should rhyme with the other side of the Gulf of Thailand with Mueang Patchanta Khiri Khet ( Koh Kong Province in Cambodia today). In 1894, King Chulalongkorn set ( Rama V ) Mueang Prachuap under the administration of Mueang Phetchaburi. In 1898 he moved the administrative center of Mueang Kui to the Co- Lak Bay (also: Prachuap Bay ). 1906 were merged to form the newly established Mueang Pranburi Pranburi Mueang, Kamnoed Nopphakhun and Prachuap. The new city became the capital of a new province under the administration of Monthon Ratchaburi. In order to prevent confusion of the city name, King Vajiravudh (Rama VI ). Management

Amphoe Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan ( tambon) divided into six municipalities that continue in 53 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

The city ( Mueang thesaban ) Prachuap Khiri Khan ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง ประจวบคีรีขันธ์ ) covers the whole tambon Prachuap Khiri Khan and parts of the tambon Ko Lak and Ao Noi.

There are also two small towns ( Tambon thesaban ):

  • KM 5 ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล กม .5 ) also consists of parts of the Tambon Ao Noi,
  • Khlong Wan ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล คลอง วาฬ ) consists of parts of the tambon same name.

There are also five " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
