Mueang Satun District
Amphoe Mueang Satun ( Thai: อำเภอ เมือง สตูล ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Satun. The Satun province is located in the west of the southern region of Thailand.
Geography
Adjacent counties and areas ( from north-west clockwise): Amphoe Tha Phae and the Khuan Don Satun Province, the state of Perlis of Malaysia and the Andaman Sea.
History
Originally the province of Satun consisted of two districts and a small district. Mambang ( มำ บัง ) was one of the districts, it was renamed Mueang Satun 1938.
Management
Amphoe Mueang Satun is divided into twelve subdistricts ( tambon), which continued in 67 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.
Satun town itself has a status ( thesaban Mueang ), it consists of the whole tambon Phiman.
There are next to three small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:
- Chalung ( เทศบาล ตำบล ฉ ลุง ) consists of parts of the tambon Chalung,
- Che Bi Lang ( เทศบาล ตำบล เจ๊ะ บิ ลัง ) consists of parts of the tambon Che Bi Lang,
- Khlong Khut ( เทศบาล ตำบล คลอง ขุด ) consists of the whole Tambon Khlong Khut.
In addition, there are ten " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
