Mueang Sukhothai District

Amphoe Mueang Sukhothai ( Thai: อำเภอ เมือง สุโขทัย ) is the administrative district of the provincial capital ( Amphoe Mueang ) of the province of Sukhothai. The Sukhothai Province is located in the northern region of Thailand. The provincial capital is also called Sukhothai.

Geography

Adjacent counties ( from the southeast clockwise): Amphoe Kong the Krailat, Khiri Mat, Ban Dan Lan Hoi and Si Samrong in the Province Sukhothai and Amphoe Phrom Phiram in the province of Phitsanulok.

The most important river is the Maenam Yom ( Yom River ).

History

The district was originally the district of the provincial capital of the province of Sukhothai and was called " Mueang ". In 1917 he was renamed Thani ( ธานี ). In 1932, the province and the province of Sukhothai Sawankhalok was merged into the new province Sawankhalok. In 1939, the province was renamed " Sukhothai Province". The district of the provincial capital - he was now called Sukhothai Thani ( สุโขทัย ธานี ) - was renamed " Mueang Sukhothai ".

Management

Amphoe Mueang Sukhothai is divided into ten municipalities ( tambon), which are further subdivided into 97 villages ( Muban ).

Sukhothai Thani ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง สุโขทัย ธานี ) is a city ( Mueang thesaban ) in the district, it consists of the whole Tambon Thani.

There are also three small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Ban Suan ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้าน สวน ) consists of parts of the tambon same name,
  • Mueang Kao ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เมือง เก่า ) consists of parts of the tambon same name,
  • Ban Kluai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้าน กล้วย ) consists of the whole tambon Ban Kluai.

In addition, there are eight " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations).
