Mueang Ubon Ratchathani District

Amphoe Mueang Ubon Ratchathani ( Thai อำเภอ เมือง อุบลราชธานี ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Ubon Ratchathani. The Ubon Ratchathani Province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the Isaan. The capital of the province of Ubon Ratchathani Ubon Ratchathani is also called.

Geography

Ubon is located in the border triangle of Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, about 630 kilometers northeast of the capital Bangkok. Through the county of Maenam Mun, the largest river of the Isaan flows.

Neighboring districts (from west clockwise): the Amphoe Muang Sam Sip Khueang Nai, Lao Suea Kok, Don Mot Daeng, Sawang Wirawong, and Warin Chamrap Ubon Ratchathani province and Amphoe Kanthararom Province Sisaket.

Important water resource is the Mun River.

History

The county was originally named Buphapala Nikhom ( บุพ ป ล นิคม ). The name was changed in 1909 in Ubon Burapha ( บูรพา อุบล ), 1913 in Amphoe Mueang Ubon and on April 24, 1917 in Amphoe Mueang Ubon Ratchathani.

The small town ( thesaban tambon) Ubon consists of parts of tambon Kham Yai and Mae Ra Chae.

In addition, there are eleven " Tambon Administrative Organizations" ( TAO - administrative units ).
