Muespach

Muespach ( German: MUESPACH ) is a commune with 838 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the canton of Ferrette and community association Ill et Gersbach.

Geography

The municipality is located in the valley of Muespach Gersbaches which arises from the confluence of Muesbach and Will Erbach and a few kilometers to the west flows into the River Ill. The Sundgau community is situated 18 kilometers from Altkirch and 18 kilometers from Basel.

Neighboring communities of Muespach are Berentzwiller in the north, Knœringue in the northeast, Muespach -le-Haut in the east, and Fislis Werentzhouse in the south, Durmenach in the southwest and Roppentzwiller and Steinsoultz in the West.

The municipality had a station on the railway line Waldighoffen -Saint -Louis- la- Chaussee of 1915. This included a siding and a loading track. The passenger was set in 1955 and shut down the track in 1960.

History

The municipality was founded on August 1, 1972 through the merger of the municipalities Muespach -le- Bas and Moyen- Muespach.
