Mugan plain

The Mugansteppe is about a hundred thousand acres of desert area along the Aras in Azerbaijan and Iran ( Āzarbāydschān ) between Talyschgebirge and the Caspian Sea. This large plane is a fruitful pasture for horses, camels, and especially sheep. The Shahsavan nomads use the Muganebene in winter pasture for Muganischaf. The plain is crisscrossed by a dense network of irrigation canals, which allow cultivation of cotton.
