Muhamet Hamiti

Dr. Muhamet Hamiti is a Kosovar diplomat.

Hailing from a family of academics Hamiti taught English literature at the University of Pristina. After the political developments in the years 1989 and 1990 he decided to go into politics.

During the 1990s he worked in Kosova Information Centre, a news agency, which should represent the Kosovar interests on the international stage. Hamiti also worked closely with Ibrahim Rugova and became his media adviser. Later, when Rugova in 2002 became president, Hamiti became his press secretary.

After the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Kosovo Hamiti was in October 2008 Chargé d' at the kosovo generic Embassy in London. A year later he was appointed ambassador. Since February 2010 Hamiti is also accredited as non- resident ambassador in New Zealand. He is married and has two children.
