Muhammad al-Amin al-Kanemi
Al- Hajj Muhammad al- Ameen al - Kanemi (* 1776 in Libya, † 1837) was a Muslim scholar of the people of Kanembu.
He grew up in Libyan Mourzuk.
From 1814, he played in Bornu, a historic kingdom in central Sudan, an important role as a politician and military commander. After Bornu was almost succumbed to the jihadist onslaught of the Fulani leader Usman dan Fodio 1808-1809, the Sefuwa using the devout al - Kanemi could snatch the Fulani again large parts of the empire. From 1820 onwards, however, the dominance of their former Savior was always overwhelming.
When al - Kanemi died in 1837 his son Umar ( 1837-1881 ) was, according to his request, appointed as his successor. This justified the Shehu of Bornu dynasty. His descendants ruled until 1893 under the British colonial rule.
