Muhammad Ali (writer)

Maulana Muhammad Ali (* 1874 in Punjab, British India, † October 13, 1951 ) was Emir of the Ahmadiyya Anjuman -i -Islam Lahore Ischat ( AAIIL ) from April 1914 to October 1951.

Biography

He joined the Ahmadiyya Movement in 1897 and dedicated his life to the service of this movement in 1900.

1902 Maulana Muhammad Ali, the editor of the "Review of Religions ", one of the first Islamic journals in English. When Mirza Ghulam Ahmad 1905, the " Ahmadiyya Anjuman Ishaat -i -Islam " well-founded (an organization to lead the Ahmadiyya movement ), he named Maulana Muhammad Ali as the Secretary of its Executive Council ( Amla ).

In March 1914, Hakim Noor ud- Din, Khilafat ul- Massih I., died was Mirza Bashir ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad, the son of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, his successor. The choice of the 25 -year-old provoked Sadr Anjuman Ahmadiyya inconsistencies with the above interpretation of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad's Testament. The dispute turned also to different interpretations of the verse 33:40 of the Qur'an, which describes Muhammad as the " Seal of the Prophets ". The position of Sadr ( Chairman ) Anjuman Ahmadiyya and the Caliphate were in dispute. Among other Maulana Muhammad Ali took the view that the Sadr Anjuman Ahmadiyya should lead the movement, while Mirza Bashir ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad believed that the caliph would be the leader and the chairman of the Executive Council ( Amla ). Other disputes revolved around the position of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as Promised Messiah and Mahdi.

This unresolved conflict led the Sadr Anjuman Ahmadiyya section of with Maulana Muhammad Ali and other senior members of the Ahmadiyya movement to relocate from Qadian to Lahore. They were known as the Ahmadiyya Anjuman -i -Islam Ischat Lahore ( Lahore Ahmadiyya Movement for the Propagation of Islam ) or in short form as the " Lahoris ".

Maulana Muhammad Ali led this organization since its founding in 1914, organized its worldwide missionary activities and published a large amount of literature in English and Urdu. He translated the Qur'an with commentary in both English and Urdu. Among his English-language publications were The Religion of Islam, Muhammad the Prophet, A Manual of Hadith, The New World Order and Living Thoughts of the Prophet Muhammad.
