Mühlbach (Schwarzbach)

BW

The Mühlbach is a small stream that arises from the confluence of Ruthsenbach and Silz ( Messel hills ) in Darmstadt- Arheilgen. The Ruthsenbach rises on the outskirts of Roßdorf ( near Darmstadt ), the Messel Silz in the hill country.

The Mühlbach crosses successively the districts of Arheilgen, Wixhausen, Gräfenhausen, Schneppenhausen, Worfelden, small - and large - Gerau Gerau. At times the creek due to lack of water, low rainfall and partly because of falling water table of the surrounding region almost dried up. The stream is straightened largely designed and unnatural, which is why it is also evaluated in the classification of the water structure over large areas as strongly altered to complete ( rating class 5 to 7). In the local situation of large -Gerau he is locally piped. Through artificial restraint measures such as flood retention basins Aumuehle southeast of Darmstadt- Wixhausen, the outflow is regulated.

At the discount structure in the district Gräfenhausen ( Weiterstadt ) between Sensfelder yard and Ottilie mill on the outskirts of Darmstadt / Wixhausen the artificial apple creek branches off in a northerly direction. This then meanders to the west and finally empties into the Hegbachsee near Gross -Gerau.

The Mühlbach opens in Trebur in the Schwarzenbach, which in turn opens a little later in Ginsheim into the Rhine.
