Muir Glacier

The Muir Glacier is a glacier in Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska, approximately 124 km northwest of Hoonah.

It rises 15 km south of Mount Elias Harris in the chain and flows in a southeasterly direction to the Muir Inlet, a fjord in the Glacier Bay. Between 1941 and 2004, the Muir Glacier has retreated by the glaciers melt at twelve kilometers.

It was named after John Muir Glacier (1838-1914), a Scottish- American polymath who discovered the glacier, 1879.
