Muisca raft

The gold raft of Eldorado ( gold raft of Pasca ) is a gold artifact, which is the Eldorado ceremony and is regarded as proof of the authenticity of the legend.

Description

The 18 cm long plastic is made of an alloy of gold ( 80%), silver, and copper and is the ceremony on the lake Guatavita again. On the raft there are eleven upright figures with various fruits and a stylized headdress. A person stands above the rest, bears nose and ear ornaments and seated on a throne. You probably represents the Muisca King dar.

The gold raft of Eldorado was made using the lost wax of the Muisca.

History

Was discovered in the raft of Eldorado in 1969 in a cave located in the southwest of Bogotá old Muisca settlement Pasca of farmers in search of her runaway dog. Today is the gold raft in the Museo del Oro Banco de la República in Bogotá.
