Muju County

The county of Muju ( Kor. 무주군, Muju -gun ) is located in the province of Jeollabuk -do in South Korea. The administrative headquarters is located in the town of Muju- eup.

In the district there is the 1614 m high mountain Deogyusan which is opened in 1975 in the national park. In the National Park can be found beside the 30 km long Gucheondong Valley and the valley Chilyeon with a waterfall of seven cascades composed of seven associated ponds. The county is known for its winter sports center Muju Resort in the National Park.

Well-known temples are the Baengnyeonsa and the temple was built in 1277 Anguksa that is the only temple in the fortress Jeoksangsanseong. The fort is on the summit of the mountain Jeoksangsan ( 1029 m).
