Mukhtar Auezov

Mukhtar Omarchanuly Äuesow ( Kazakh Мұхтар Омарханұлы Әуезов; Russian Мухтар Омарханович Ауэзов, .. * 16 Septemberjul / September 28 1897greg in today's circle Abai ( Eastern Kazakhstan ), Kazakhstan, † June 27, 1961 in Moscow ) was a Kazakh writer.

Life

Äuesow was born into a nomadic family in eastern Kazakhstan, near the Semipalatinsk today. His grandfather taught him to read and write. From a young age Äuesow was influenced by the works of Kazakh writer Abai. His father died in 1900, his mother finally in 1912, which Äuesow the age of 15 became a full orphans. He was raised by his uncle after first and his grandparents.

After graduation, he studied at the Pedagogical Institute Semipalatinsk and then moved to the State University of Leningrad. During his studies he began writing, he first became known through his spectacles. His first play was Enlik - Kebek, a story about two lovers. In total he wrote more than 20 pieces, which often dealt with by the socialism in Kazakhstan. Later Äuesow concentrated on writing novels. Two novels - Abai and the way Abais - act of the Kazakh writer Abai Qunanbajuly and were the result of the last 20 years of his life. The way Abais comprises four volumes and was published from 1942 until 1956. For the first two volumes Äuesow received the State Prize of the USSR.

Äuesow also dealt more with drawing and the translation of literature into Kazakh. So he translated The Government Inspector by Nikolai Gogol and The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare.

The National Theatre of Drama in Almaty Kazakh bears Äuesows name.
