Mukono District

Mukono is a district (municipality) in central Uganda with about 807 923 inhabitants. Like almost all districts of Uganda, he is named after its chief town. It is located on Lake Victoria and includes some islands in the lake.

The yields of agriculture in Mukono are low, which is why many farmers live in poverty and only eat once a day. Previously, the district produced 40 % of the coffee in Uganda, but this has changed due to disease infestation of the coffee plant. In cooperation with the exporting companies Mukono Cafe Africa growing coffee is to be promoted again.

In Mukono is the Mabira forest.
