Mulatu Teshome

Mulatu Teschome Wirtu ( Amharic ሙላቱ ተሾመ, born 1955 or 1956 in Arjo, Wollega Province, Abyssinia ) is an Ethiopian politician and diplomat and since October 7, 2013, Federal President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. He is a member of the Democratic party Oromo People's Organization, which is part of the ruling coalition 's Revolutionary Democratic Front.

Life

Mulatu Teschome studied in the People's Republic of China and received his bachelor's degree in philosophy of political economy, and his PhD degree in international law at Peking University. He then taught at numerous foreign universities and institutions.

Mid-1990 was Teschome Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Cooperation under Girma Birru, and was appointed on 7 October 2001 as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, a position he held until July 1, 2003. He was from 2002 to 2005 at the same time Speaker of the Ethiopian Federal Parliament.

Later Teschome Ethiopia 's ambassador to the People's Republic of China, then in Japan and on 21 April 2006 in Turkey. While he served as ambassador to Turkey, he was unanimously elected on October 7, 2013 by the Parliament as Federal President of Ethiopia. Girma Seifu from unity for democracy and justice, the only opposition member of the People's House of Representatives Party, welcomed his election.
