Mülbach

Mülbach is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bitburg -Land.

Geography

Mülbach is located in the Eifel mountains west of Bitburg on the lower reaches of Mühlbach. The municipality also includes the residential places Deltenhof and Tempelhof.

History

An extensive debris field in the district Tempelhof area indicates a settlement in Roman times. The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1177 as Mølbach. 1325 Before belonging to Luxembourg under Provost, the place was taken over by the gentry Bettingen and New Castle in the subsequent period.

Parish council

The local council in Mülbach consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009, by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The blue wave bar, symbolizing the mill stream, divides the coat of arms in a red stamp on yellow background, which stands for the presence of the Knights Templar and wears the colors of the County of Manderscheid and into a blue water wheel on a silver background, symbolizing the mills with the Luxembourg national colors.

Economy

The economically active residents commute primarily to Bitburg and neighboring Luxembourg. In the village there is an agricultural contracting business.

Attractions

A longitudinal rectangular, three-sided closing chapel shows in the door jambs dating in 1876 and the initials of the builder. It was restored in 1975 and is privately owned.
