Mull of Kintyre (song)

Mull of Kintyre is a song by Wings, which was published in 1977. It was a number -one hit in many countries and was the first single, which sold in the United Kingdom more than two million copies.

Formation

The piece was originally written in 1970 by Paul McCartney and Wings Denny Laine member as a description of the landscape around the Mull of Kintyre in Scotland, where McCartney has a studio and a farm.

The song was recorded as a single in London and released on Capitol Records on November 11, 1977. The single was produced as a double A - side; on the back there is the song Girls' School. The musicians were supported by the " Campbeltown Pipe Band " from Kintyre with bagpipes.

Chart success

Mull of Kintyre became an international chart success. The song finished second in Australia ( 11 weeks), Belgium (6 weeks), Germany (10 weeks ), Ireland (10 weeks), New Zealand (7 weeks ), Netherlands ( 5 weeks), Austria (4 weeks), Switzerland (10 weeks ) and the UK (9 weeks) topped the charts.
